Meet the Kudize Club Team

OK, so it sounds a bit corny, but the Kudize Club team really is like a great big family.

That’s not to say that we don’t disagree at times, but we do believe in creating wonderful things together, having fun, and appreciating each other’s strengths — and differences!

So that you can get to know the Kudize family too, we asked our team members some very important questions.

Let’s hear them dish the dirt…

When did you start working at Kudize?
In 2015 I moved to Hassocks and set up my own business called Hassocks Childcare, then in 2016 I co founded Kudize Club Ltd.

What qualification are you most proud of and why?
Well, I should say that I’m proud of my Multi Media Textile degree which I got from Loughborough, but I’m more proud of my level 3 diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce, as this professional qualification enabled me to set up my own childcare business.

What’s your favourite thing about working in and around Hassocks?
I love being surrounded by the beautiful Downs, with the well looked after windmils, and the poignant Chattri, as well as the incredible community Hassocks has, which I feel very thankful to be part of.

What’s your favourite thing about working with Kudize kids?
I really love the genuine friendships I have with the children. I also think the parents and carers are good fun too, and enjoy having a giggle at the gate with them too.

Do you have a secret talent? Or can you tell us something about yourself that most people would not know?
I love digging and gigging. I also taught myself to skip over lockdown, and can now do a double-under!

What’s your super power when at work?
I’ve learnt how to get the attention of a noisy rabble of children by clapping my hands in a rhythm, which they then copy. There’s a magic moment when we are all in time together and are basically making music, and it creates a wonderful feeling of togetherness.

What’s your favourite time of year – and why?
Summer, as it’s my birthday as well as my two daughters’, so there’s lots of festivities going on, and I really enjoy spending time with my family and friends in the warm evenings.

Your favourite kids’ book?
The Giant Jam Sandwich with pictures by John Vernon Lord and verses by Janet Burroway.

Tell us what’s on the top shelf of your fridge right now
There tends to be lots of jars of pickles e.g. piccalilli, lime and aubergine pickle, dill pickles and homemade pickled onions, plus I’ve recently made pickled nasturtium seeds, which are a bit like capers.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
My dream job was to be the person who made the thing when the Blue Peter presenter said, ‘Here’s one we made earlier’.
